The company states that it has a range of over 700 km and a payload of 250 kg, as well as the capability to fly at low altitude whilst following the contours of the terrain. Destinus also claims that the system can operate whilst satellite navigation is jammed and whilst actively countering electronic warfare measures.<\/p>\n<h2>Navigation and object recognition on the final stretch<\/h2>\n<p>Navigation system <a href=\"https:\/\/www.destinus.com\/products\/ruta-block-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruta Block 2<\/a> It combines an inertial navigation system (INS), a satellite-based global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and a visual navigation system (VNS). During the final stage of flight, the missile utilises an electro-optical and infrared (EO\/IR) homing seeker.<\/p>\n<p>Artificial intelligence algorithms are designed to help identify objects pre-defined by the operator. According to the developers, this reduces reliance on satellite navigation in the vicinity of the target. SATCOM is also specified for communications, along with the option to use a relay via a drone.<\/p>\n<h2>The containerised launch has passed flight testing<\/h2>\n<p>Block 2 is designed for launch using a rocket booster, specifically from a standard 40-foot container. After launch, the folding wings and control surfaces deploy automatically. According to the company\u2019s description, this design simplifies the transport and storage of the system and allows for its integration onto land-based or maritime platforms.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2026, Destinus announced a successful flight test of this architecture. The test verified the axial orientation of the launch booster, the folding wings, the folding control surfaces and their automatic deployment. The company stated that the test confirmed the operational capability of the key technologies of the containerised version.<\/p>\n<h2>Ukrainian trials and production cooperation with Rheinmetall<\/h2>\n<p>In May, Destinus announced that Ruta Block 2 is being developed with the support of the Ukrainian defence cluster <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/economics\/brave-international-oboronni-innovatsiyi\/\">Brave1<\/a>. The company also announced that it was conducting flight tests in Ukraine and planned to ramp up production of the system during 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In June, Rheinmetall and Destinus announced the formation of a joint venture, Rheinmetall Destinus Strike Systems. Its production programme is set to begin with the Kryla and Ruta Block 2 systems. Facilities for final assembly, integration, testing and series production are to be established in Germany; the first deliveries from the German production site were scheduled for 2026.<\/p>\n<h2>Block 2 in the RUTA range, between the first and the forthcoming third versions<\/h2>\n<p>Ruta Block 2 is an evolution of the first version of the family. For Ruta Block 1, Destinus claims a range of over 300 km, a payload of 150 kg, low-altitude flight, INS, GNSS and VNS navigation, and mobile ground launch. The new version features improved performance, a containerised architecture and more sophisticated terminal guidance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next, the company announces the Ruta Block 3 with a range of up to 2,000 km<\/strong> and a payload of 250 kg. It is to be equipped with a T220 engine, INS, GNSS, VNS and TERCOM navigation systems, as well as a containerised architecture.
