In it, Parker and Stone wrote: \u00abInspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post reported that, in response to a question about how long the name change would last, the authors stated that \u00abSOUTH AMERICA is dedicated to 100%\u00bb. The announcement is part of a satirical campaign surrounding the new season.<\/p>\n<h2>How the renaming of Lake Ontario became the basis for a joke<\/h2>\n<p>27 August <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> signed a decree reserving the name for federal use <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/trump-lake-ontario-lake-america\/\">Lake Ontario<\/a> was changed to Lake America. The new name was subsequently added to the American system of geographical names.<\/p>\n<p>Google was the first to update the labels in its mapping service, and was later followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/science-tech\/apple-event-2026-iphone-fold-18-pro-siri\/\">Apple<\/a>. On Apple Maps, US users see \u2018Lake America\u2019, whilst in Canada it remains \u2018Lake Ontario\u2019, and in other regions both names may appear.<\/p>\n<p>A similar situation had previously arisen with the Gulf of Mexico: the Trump administration introduced the official American name \u2018Gulf of America\u2019, and Google and Apple updated their maps accordingly.<\/p>\n<h2>New America\u2019s proposal for the State of New Mexico<\/h2>\n<p>The series of geographical name changes continued with Trump\u2019s posts on Truth Social. The President published an image in which the state of New Mexico is labelled \u2018New America\u2019, and also shared a video showing the word \u2018Mexico\u2019 replaced with \u2018America\u2019 on a road sign.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike renaming a lake for federal purposes, the President does not have the sole authority to rename a US state. The proposal has drawn criticism from politicians and residents of New Mexico.<\/p>\n<h2>The case against Paramount and Skydance<\/h2>\n<p>In the same statement <strong>Parker<\/strong> \u0456 <strong>Stone<\/strong> They added: \u00abWe\u2019d particularly like to thank our parent company, Paramount \u2014 for Skydance\u2019s capitulation.\u00bb The wording is a play on words and a dig at the parent company following the corporate changes involving Paramount and Skydance.<\/p>\n<p>The writers have previously criticised the situation surrounding Paramount and its relationship with the Trump administration. In recent seasons, the US President has been one of the main targets of the series\u2019 political satire. South Park recently won an Emmy for Best Animated Programme, after which the creators once again poked fun at Trump.<\/p>\n<h2>Broadcast schedule for Season 29<\/h2>\n<p>The day after the TV premiere, new episodes will be available on Paramount+ in the US, Canada and Australia.
