According to the latest officially confirmed figures, as of the morning of 10 September, over 34,000 pilgrims had arrived in the city, and their numbers continue to rise. Footage released shows a dense stream of people occupying almost the entire width of the streets in the pilgrimage area.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1163\" data-end=\"1426\">The Cherkasy Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that <strong data-start=\"1235\" data-end=\"1307\">As of the morning of 10 September, more than 34,000 worshippers had already arrived in Uman<\/strong>. On the same day, Suspilne reported that over 32,000 pilgrims had registered.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1428\" data-end=\"1639\">Previously, the organisers and local sources had predicted around <strong data-start=\"1488\" data-end=\"1511\">40,000 pilgrims<\/strong> this year. A large number of pilgrims traditionally arrive just before the festival begins.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1641\" data-end=\"1803\">Opinions are already circulating on social media about <strong data-start=\"1679\" data-end=\"1702\">46,000 pilgrims<\/strong>, however, at the time of writing, we have not found any official confirmation of this particular figure.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1bb9vmy\" data-start=\"1805\" data-end=\"1843\">Rosh Hashanah will last until 13 September<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1845\" data-end=\"2100\">Rosh Hashanah 5787 begins <strong data-start=\"1879\" data-end=\"1913\">on the evening of Friday, 11 September<\/strong>, and ends on the evening of 13 September. For the Bratslav Hasidim, Uman holds special significance as it is the burial place of the movement\u2019s spiritual leader \u2014 the tzaddik <strong>Nahmana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2102\" data-end=\"2245\">Pilgrims come to the town to spend the festival in prayer, visit Rabbi Nachman\u2019s grave and take part in traditional religious ceremonies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2247\" data-end=\"2431\">In particular, the traditions include prayers, festive meals and the Tashlich ritual by bodies of water. As a result, the emergency services have stepped up their monitoring of the areas around Uman\u2019s bodies of water.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2433\" data-end=\"2669\">At the same time, the claim that <strong data-start=\"2457\" data-end=\"2528\">All 46,000 pilgrims are praying specifically \u00abfor peace in Ukraine\u00bb<\/strong>, this has not been confirmed by verified official sources. It would be more accurate to say that they arrived to celebrate Rosh Hashanah and take part in traditional prayers.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"rseds0\" data-start=\"2671\" data-end=\"2705\">Security measures have been stepped up in Uman<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2707\" data-end=\"3012\">Due to the mass pilgrimage, law enforcement agencies are operating on high alert. The National Police, the National Guard, the State Emergency Service, the Security Service of Ukraine, border guards and the Migration Service have all been deployed to maintain order. Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have also been joined by <strong data-start=\"2946\" data-end=\"2973\">Israeli police officers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3014\" data-end=\"3236\">From 4 to 17 September, special traffic restrictions are in place in Uman. Checkpoints have been set up on certain streets, and vehicle access to the pilgrimage area is restricted.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3238\" data-end=\"3403\">The Migration Service, together with the police, the Security Service of Ukraine and border guards, is also carrying out checks to ensure that foreign nationals are in the city legally.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"vketsh\" data-start=\"3405\" data-end=\"3452\">The Foreign Ministry had warned pilgrims of the risks of war<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3454\" data-end=\"3603\">Back in late July, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/suspilstvo\/hasydy-uman-rosh-ha-shana-bezpeka\/\">Hasidim<\/a> take into account the security situation arising from Russian missile and drone attacks.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3605\" data-end=\"3788\">The Foreign Ministry emphasised that, due to the full-scale war, <strong data-start=\"3651\" data-end=\"3717\">Ukraine cannot guarantee the complete safety of foreign nationals<\/strong>, who come on a pilgrimage.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3790\" data-end=\"4066\">Despite this, tens of thousands of worshippers have decided to travel to Uman.
