In Germany, the iPhone 16, iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e have gone up by \u20ac150, whilst the top-of-the-range iPhone Air with 1 TB of storage has risen by \u20ac350. The official price is now <strong data-start=\"1163\" data-end=\"1172\">\u20ac2049<\/strong> \u2014 in other words, the smartphone went up in price by as much as <strong data-start=\"1211\" data-end=\"1219\">\u20ac350<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1260\" data-end=\"1391\">The basic version of the iPhone Air with 256 GB has also gone up in price: Apple is now selling it from <strong data-start=\"1343\" data-end=\"1352\">\u20ac1299<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"lhoa9o\" data-start=\"1393\" data-end=\"1430\">The iPhone 16, 17 and 17e have each gone up by \u20ac150<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1432\" data-end=\"1520\">The price increase has affected virtually all the models that Apple has retained in its current range.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1522\" data-end=\"1689\"><strong data-start=\"1522\" data-end=\"1546\">iPhone 17e with 256 GB<\/strong> at the time of its release in March 2026, it cost in Germany <strong data-start=\"1605\" data-end=\"1613\">\u20ac699<\/strong>. In particular, the following models are no longer sold directly by the company: <strong data-start=\"2792\" data-end=\"2846\">iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1llfu62\" data-start=\"2887\" data-end=\"2913\">Why has Apple raised its prices?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2915\" data-end=\"3141\">The price changes themselves coincided with the launch of the new generation of iPhones; however, the main underlying reason cited for the rise in the price of Apple electronics in recent months is <strong data-start=\"3077\" data-end=\"3140\">shortages and a sharp rise in the cost of memory and storage devices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3143\" data-end=\"3412\">In June, Apple\u2019s then-CEO <strong>Tim Cook<\/strong> warned that the global shortage of DRAM and other types of memory, caused by surging demand from data centres for artificial intelligence, is forcing the company to review its prices.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3414\" data-end=\"3629\">Cook later described the situation in the memory market as something of a peculiar one <strong data-start=\"3470\" data-end=\"3500\">\u00aba once-in-a-century flood\u00bb<\/strong> and acknowledged that Apple is reluctant to raise prices, but the increase in production costs has become too great.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3631\" data-end=\"3807\">Reuters also reports that in 2026, Apple is raising iPhone prices in various countries against the backdrop of a global shortage of memory components.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1vrwukq\" data-start=\"3809\" data-end=\"3861\">Buying a second-hand iPhone isn\u2019t necessarily cheaper these days<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3863\" data-end=\"3959\">After looking at the price list, the difference between the previous and new generations of iPhone has narrowed significantly.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3961\" data-end=\"4133\">For example, the 128 GB iPhone 16 now costs nearly \u20ac1,000, whilst the 256 GB iPhone 17 costs \u20ac1,099. This means that buying older models directly from Apple is no longer such an obvious way to save money.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4135\" data-end=\"4324\">At the same time, retail chains may still be selling remaining stock at the old prices or at promotional prices.
