Passengers will therefore use the \u00abtrain plus bus\u00bb scheme, rather than services to the regional centre being completely suspended.<\/p>\n Ukrzaliznytsia has emphasised that this arrangement is temporary. Full services to Sumy are to be resumed once the risks to passengers and train crews have been reduced.<\/p>\n The company had already been using a combined logistics approach when it was impossible to reach the final destinations safely. Such transfers had previously been organised, in particular, for Shostka, Konotop, Romny, Nosivka and Nizhyn.<\/p>\n On the morning of 8 September, Russian drones attacked the Kyiv\u2013Sumy passenger train. Following a warning from the Ukrzaliznytsia monitoring team, the train was brought to a halt in good time, and the passengers, train crew and locomotive crew were evacuated before the strike.<\/p>\n A fire broke out following the attack. Rescue workers evacuated 90 people, and buses provided by the State Emergency Service and the local authorities were organised to transport them onwards. No one was injured in this incident.<\/p>\n On the same day, Russian troops attacked a commuter diesel train in the Sumy region: the locomotive and a passenger carriage caught fire. Ten people were injured; a second strike occurred whilst the rescue services were at work.
