Ukraine\u00bb, the European Court of Human Rights found a violation of the Convention due to the lack of legal recognition and protection for same-sex couples.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itd.rada.gov.ua\/billinfo\/Bills\/Card\/56933\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bill No. 13597<\/a> The bill on combating discrimination was added to the parliamentary agenda on 1 September, but it has not yet become law.<\/p>\n<h2>The march was the final event of the week-long programme<\/h2>\n<p>Kharkiv Pride took place from 5 to 12 September. PrideFest, featuring charity and educational events, was held over the first two days, whilst the march was the programme\u2019s main event.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by KHARKIV Today, the organisers had planned to raise 500,000 hryvnias for a pick-up truck for the 160th Separate Mechanised Brigade. The figure referred to the fundraising target, not the final amount raised.<\/p>\n<h2>Social media reported on the metro and the presence of opponents<\/h2>\n<p>Eyewitnesses on social media reported that participants were gathering and making their way through the Kharkiv metro. The route was not published in advance: according to KHARKIV Today, the location and time were to be communicated to participants immediately before the start for security reasons.<\/p>\n<p>There have also been reports of opponents of the march in the area around the Taras Shevchenko Park. The organisation \u00abPrava Molod\u00bb had publicly stated prior to the event that it intended to oppose the march. Local media and law enforcement agencies are monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n<h2>The military context of the day in Kharkiv<\/h2>\n<p>The march is taking place in a town that is regularly attacked by Russia. On this day, there were reports of a Russian drone striking a children\u2019s facility in the Saltivskyi district.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Russia attacked Kharkiv and seven other towns and villages in the region over the past 24 hours.
