The factory produces ceramic tiles, toilet bowls, washbasins and other sanitaryware. A fire broke out on the factory premises following the strike, which was extinguished by the emergency services. There are no reports of fatalities or injuries. Eyewitnesses told Forbes Ukraine that the strike had hit the Polish company\u2019s factory. As of the time of publication, Cersanit itself had not officially commented on the consequences of the attack.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1349\" data-end=\"1569\">The State Emergency Service had previously reported a fire at one of the district\u2019s industrial sites following a Russian strike. Firefighters extinguished the blaze. No reports of fatalities or injuries have been received.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1571\" data-end=\"1779\">Thus, having targeted warehouses, food processing plants, petrol stations and logistics facilities, Russian drones have this time struck a company whose main products are \u2014 <strong data-start=\"1736\" data-end=\"1778\">tiles and bathroom fittings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1xjdd79\" data-start=\"1781\" data-end=\"1829\">They manufacture toilets, washbasins, baths and tiles<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1831\" data-end=\"2064\">Ltd <strong data-start=\"1835\" data-end=\"1856\">\u00abCersanit Invest\u00bb<\/strong> It is the Ukrainian \u00absubsidiary\u00bb of the Polish company Cersanit S.A. The company manufactures ceramic tiles under the Cersanit and Opoczno brands, as well as sanitaryware and acrylic bathroom fittings.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2066\" data-end=\"2259\">The company\u2019s catalogue features, amongst other things, <strong data-start=\"2109\" data-end=\"2220\">toilets, bidets, urinals, washbasins, baths, shower trays, bathroom furniture and plumbing systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2261\" data-end=\"2463\">Therefore, if one sets aside all of Moscow\u2019s military rhetoric, the facts appear rather mundane: during the night, Russia deployed attack drones against a factory which, amongst other things, mass-produces <strong data-start=\"2440\" data-end=\"2462\">toilets and washbasins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"srvet8\" data-start=\"2465\" data-end=\"2510\">The factory has been operating in the Zhytomyr region for almost 20 years<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2512\" data-end=\"2802\">The project to build the Cersanit plant in the Zhytomyr region began back in 2007. At that time, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development supported the establishment of a new ceramic tile and sanitaryware production facility in the Novograd-Volynskyi area, now known as Zviahel.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2804\" data-end=\"3078\">According to the EBRD, even at an early stage the plant was producing approximately <strong data-start=\"2867\" data-end=\"2936\">7 million square metres of tiles and 1 million units of sanitaryware per year<\/strong>. It was later planned to increase production capacity to 12 million square metres of tiles and 2 million units of sanitaryware.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3080\" data-end=\"3255\">Cersanit\u2019s official documents state the production address of Cersanit Invest Ltd in the village of <strong data-start=\"3163\" data-end=\"3216\">Chizhivka, Zvyagel District, Zhytomyr Region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"10num8n\" data-start=\"3257\" data-end=\"3294\">The company has a turnover in the billions<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3296\" data-end=\"3541\">According to Forbes Ukraine, the revenue of Cersanit Invest LLC for 2025 exceeded <strong data-start=\"3373\" data-end=\"3389\">3.7 billion hryvnia<\/strong>. The factory has been operating in the region since 2007 and is one of Ukraine\u2019s largest manufacturers of ceramic tiles and sanitaryware.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3543\" data-end=\"3821\">Cersanit describes itself as one of Europe\u2019s leading industrial groups with Polish capital in the bathroom fittings sector. The group has seven factories and around 5,500 employees, and its products are sold in Ukraine and EU countries.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3823\" data-end=\"3975\">In other words, this is not a military factory or a defence industry enterprise, but a large-scale civilian manufacturer of building materials and sanitary ware.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"22rmk8\" data-start=\"3977\" data-end=\"4028\">Russia is increasingly targeting Ukrainian businesses<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4030\" data-end=\"4128\"><strong>The attack on Cersanit<\/strong> was yet another incident in a series of attacks on major civilian enterprises in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4130\" data-end=\"4451\">In August alone, a Russian attack seriously damaged a German-owned factory in Zhytomyr <strong data-start=\"4206\" data-end=\"4229\">Kromberg &amp; Schubert<\/strong>, which manufactures wiring harnesses for Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, \u0160koda and Porsche. Following the strike, the company, which employs around 3,500 people, was forced to suspend operations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4453\" data-end=\"4623\">On 9 September, a food processing plant in Bila Tserkva came under attack; local sources linked it to the Reeva factory.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4625\" data-end=\"4858\">Forbes had previously estimated that, throughout 2026, attacks on manufacturing, logistics and other economic infrastructure had effectively become a separate aspect of the war aimed at wearing down Ukrainian businesses.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4860\" data-end=\"5021\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Cersanit has now been added to this list. The company has not yet disclosed the extent of the damage to its production facilities or whether the attack will affect the plant\u2019s
