The investigation into the gas pipeline explosions is ongoing, and the German government is not commenting on the substance of the matter due to the independence of the judiciary.<\/p>\n<h2>Berlin\u2019s current policy and the EU\u2019s separate mechanism<\/h2>\n<p>Weidel criticises the government <strong>Mertsa<\/strong> for her support of Ukraine, arguing that this policy is leading to an escalation of the conflict with Russia. Her call gained prominence following the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt, where the AfD won 39 of the 83 seats \u2014 three short of an absolute majority.
