The series is being produced by FX in collaboration with Ubisoft Film &amp; Television, and one of the project\u2019s key writers is <strong data-start=\"447\" data-end=\"460\">Noah Ghouli<\/strong>, best known for the TV series *Fargo* and *Alien: Earth*. The start of production was announced on 14 September. The new adaptation will not be a direct retelling of the plot of one of the *Far Cry* games. He is best known as the creator of the television anthology series *Fargo*, as well as the series *Legion* and *Alien: Earth*.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1449\" data-end=\"1639\">Alongside this, the project creates <strong data-start=\"1477\" data-end=\"1488\">Rob Mac<\/strong>, best known for *It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia* and *Mythic Quest*. He will also play one of the roles in the upcoming series.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1641\" data-end=\"1876\">Gowley had previously explained that it was the anthology-style nature of Far Cry that appealed to him. Each game transports players to a new location, introduces them to different protagonists and antagonists, whilst retaining the recognisable atmosphere of chaos, survival and the struggle for power.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1878\" data-end=\"2078\">The creators plan to apply the same principle to a television format, rather than simply adapting the storyline of *Far Cry 3*, *Far Cry 4* or any other specific instalment for the screen.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1gvqjsj\" data-start=\"2080\" data-end=\"2129\">The series will star Steve Buscemi and Lizzie Kaplan<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2131\" data-end=\"2214\">The following have already joined the cast: <strong data-start=\"2169\" data-end=\"2184\">Steve Buscemi<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2186\" data-end=\"2202\">Lizzie Kaplan<\/strong> and <strong>Rob Mac<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2216\" data-end=\"2439\">In July, Ubisoft officially confirmed Buscemi\u2019s involvement. The actor is known for *The Underground Empire*, *Fargo*, *The Big Lebowski* and *Reservoir Dogs*. No details about his character have been revealed as yet.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2441\" data-end=\"2616\">Lizzie Kaplan, known for *Masters of Sex*, *Mean Girls* and *Fleishman Is in Trouble*, will play one of the leading roles alongside Rob Mack.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2618\" data-end=\"2675\">FX is keeping the plot details of the first season under wraps for the time being.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1tguuv0\" data-start=\"2677\" data-end=\"2714\">Part of Far Cry is being filmed in Spain<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2716\" data-end=\"2944\">Preparations for the large-scale scenes began in Spain <strong data-start=\"2771\" data-end=\"2781\">Malaga<\/strong>. The local publication SUR reported on work being carried out on the site of the former Cruz del Humilladero provincial prison, where rehearsals and pyrotechnic tests were being conducted.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2946\" data-end=\"3131\">Scenes featuring explosions, smoke and debris were tested on set, in keeping with Far Cry\u2019s signature blend of action and large-scale combat sequences.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3133\" data-end=\"3246\">Previously, production bases had also indicated <strong data-start=\"3171\" data-end=\"3181\">London<\/strong> as one of the project\u2019s locations.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1wnrpb9\" data-start=\"3248\" data-end=\"3289\">Each season will tell a new story<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3291\" data-end=\"3385\">FX and Ubisoft have decided to bring one of the key features of the gaming franchise to television.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3387\" data-end=\"3581\">In various instalments of Far Cry, the action took place on tropical islands, <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/poveni-nepal-tybet-zahybli-znykli\/\">in the Himalayas<\/a>, Africa, Montana in the US and a fictional Caribbean country. Each game, in fact, began a new story.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3583\" data-end=\"3823\">The TV series will work in the same way: <strong data-start=\"3616\" data-end=\"3676\">A new season \u2014 a new setting, a new storyline and new characters<\/strong>. This will allow creators to avoid being tied to a specific game and to create original stories set in the Far Cry universe.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3825\" data-end=\"4027\">Following its premiere, the series will be broadcast on <strong data-start=\"3868\" data-end=\"3874\">FX<\/strong>, will be available on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in international markets.
