The specialised vehicles, purchased with the support of the Howard Buffett Foundation, have been handed over to district units. They are intended to help gather evidence more quickly at crime scenes, particularly when shelling poses a risk of evidence being destroyed.

Briefly about the main points

The laboratories were handed over to the district police units.

The consignment of equipment costs over $3.5 million.

The equipment includes ANDE 6C rapid DNA analysers.

RUVIS detects invisible traces without the use of powders or chemicals.

Investigation at the crime scene and the preservation of evidence

Mobile laboratories are designed to enable forensic scientists to carry out fieldwork directly at crime scenes. The police expect that this will make it possible to gather evidence more quickly whilst the trail is still fresh.

This approach is particularly necessary in areas where evidence may be damaged or destroyed as a result of shelling. Deploying equipment to district units can reduce the distance between the scene of the incident and the resources required for its initial documentation.

What equipment did the forensic scientists receive?

The kit includes ANDE 6C portable DNA analysers for the rapid identification of individuals in field conditions. The RUVIS system enables the detection of invisible fingerprints and other traces without the use of powder or reagents, including on difficult surfaces following fires and explosions.

3D scanners will create accurate digital copies of crime scenes, whilst drones will be used to survey large areas and difficult terrain. The laboratories are also equipped with forensic kits and consumables. The introduction of this equipment is intended to standardise and speed up the conduct of forensic investigations in the regions.

The National Police have received 52 mobile forensic laboratories, worth over $3.5 million, for their district units.

Нацполіція отримала 52 мобільні криміналістичні лабораторії вартістю понад $3,5 млн для районних підрозділів.
[806778
806775
post-29792","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-suspilstvo","tag-806775
["GET
