Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi described the state of public finances as close to critical. At the same time, according to Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the draft budget for 2027 allocates 1.6 billion hryvnias for the «Yedyni Novyny» telethon.

Briefly about the main points

Social benefits, public sector salaries and military pay have been identified as the current priorities.

Other budget programmes may be scaled back or postponed, but not necessarily discontinued.

The Government is asking the Rada to pass laws to secure international support.

A significant proportion of the approximately $29.5 billion in external financing is at risk.

According to «Yedyni Novyny», 1.6 billion hryvnias have been allocated in the draft 2027 budget.

MP lists the state’s priority payments

MP from «Servants of the people» Olga Vasilevska-Smaglyuk stated on 15 September that the state budget’s resources are severely limited. According to her, the state is currently funding social expenditure, public sector wages and the maintenance of the armed forces.

This statement outlines the current order of priority for payments, rather than a complete suspension of all other government programmes. Funding for some areas may be limited or deferred under these circumstances, whilst the most critical expenditure remains a priority.

The government links external support to parliamentary decisions

Prime Minister Sergey Koretsky warned that the situation regarding public finances is nearing a critical point. The Government is calling on the Verkhovna Rada to act promptly to pass the necessary bills, on which the receipt of international financial support depends.

If parliament fails to meet the necessary conditions within the specified timeframes, Ukraine risks losing a significant portion of the approximately $29.5 billion in external funding. These funds are needed to see the country through the next budget period and to cover a substantial financial deficit.

The 2027 draft budget includes funding for «Yedyny Novyny»

People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that the draft state budget for 2027 allocates 1.6 billion hryvnias for telethon «Yedyny Novyny». According to him, there are plans to transfer funding from the Ministry of Culture to the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to preliminary figures, the amount earmarked for 4% is higher than the previous figure. This figure is included in the draft budget and has not yet been definitively approved by Parliament as an expenditure item.

The budget proposals are still to be considered by the Verkhovna Rada

According to «Glavkom», Ukraine requires around $50 billion in external funding each year. The government must submit the draft 2027 budget to the Verkhovna Rada by the deadline set out in the budgetary process.

Among the details of the bill that have already been announced is an increase in the minimum wage to 9,546 UAH.
