The national broadcaster RT\u00c9 has announced a boycott for the second year running, citing the situation in Gaza and Israel\u2019s participation in the contest as the reasons for its decision. RT\u00c9 also expressed concern about the limited access independent international journalists have to the area.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1150\" data-end=\"1247\">Consequently, not only will Ireland not be sending an act, but also <strong data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1246\">will not broadcast Eurovision 2027 on RT\u00c9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"auto\" data-section-id=\"1tqndnw\" data-start=\"1249\" data-end=\"1280\">This is the second boycott in a row<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1282\" data-end=\"1337\">Ireland is boycotting the contest for the second year running. In 2026, it was one of five countries that did not take part due to Israel\u2019s participation. Along with Ireland, the following countries also boycotted the contest that year <strong data-start=\"1469\" data-end=\"1514\">Iceland, the Netherlands, Spain and Slovenia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1555\" data-end=\"1825\">The Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS has already confirmed that it will not be returning in 2027 either. The broadcaster stated that, in its view, the contest can no longer be considered neutral whilst one of the participating countries remains embroiled in a large-scale armed conflict.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"auto\" data-section-id=\"t56ikl\" data-start=\"1827\" data-end=\"1867\">What did the Eurovision organisers say?<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1869\" data-end=\"1977\">Director of Eurovision <strong>Martin Green<\/strong> stated that the organisers <strong data-start=\"1926\" data-end=\"1976\">They regret RT\u00c9\u2019s decision, but respect it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1979\" data-end=\"2164\">According to him, the European Broadcasting Union will continue its dialogue with the Irish broadcaster and hopes it will return to the contest in the future.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2166\" data-end=\"2535\">In recent years, the EBU has already amended some of the rules against the backdrop of controversies surrounding Israel. In particular, the organisers have tightened the voting rules and the requirements regarding the political neutrality of the contest. The official Eurovision rules define the contest as a non-political event and prohibit its use for political statements whilst participating.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"auto\" data-section-id=\"1mjqxcn\" data-start=\"2537\" data-end=\"2574\">Eurovision 2027 will take place in Bulgaria<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2576\" data-end=\"2737\">The next competition is scheduled to take place in Bulgaria <strong data-start=\"2622\" data-end=\"2633\">Burgas<\/strong> after the first <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/show-biz\/yevrobachennia-2026-protesty-haza-izrail\/\">Bulgaria\u2019s victories<\/a> at the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2026.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2739\" data-end=\"2979\">The controversy surrounding Israel\u2019s participation therefore continues to affect the line-up of contestants.
