There is no independent confirmation that these facilities were hit, nor of their stated purpose as claimed by Russia.<\/p>\n<h2>Moscow links the statement to Ukrainian long-haul operations<\/h2>\n<p>The Russian Ministry of Defence has attributed its strikes to alleged Ukrainian attacks on targets within Russian territory. The Russian statement came following the President\u2019s announcement <strong>Vladimir Zelensky<\/strong> on the approval of new long-range operations in response to Russian strikes.<\/p>\n<p>On 19 September, Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine was preparing to expand its long-range capabilities. He did not disclose the objectives, timelines or specific means of the forthcoming operations.<\/p>\n<h2>Four people have died and damage has been reported in five districts of the Kyiv region<\/h2>\n<p>Four civilians \u2014 a woman and three children \u2014 were killed in a Russian attack in the Kyiv region during the night. A child who had been injured died in hospital, bringing the death toll to four.<\/p>\n<p>According to local authorities, 31 properties in five districts were damaged in the region over the past 24 hours. The Fastiv district recorded the most damage \u2014 24 incidents. There, residential, industrial and farm buildings, the premises of an agricultural enterprise and 17 vehicles were affected.<\/p>\n<p>In the Vyshhorod district, private homes, business premises and an educational establishment have been damaged. Kyiv and the surrounding region continue to come under Russian attack involving drones and missiles.<\/p>\n<h2>The details of potential attacks are unknown<\/h2>\n<p>The statement by the Russian Ministry of Defence does not make it possible to determine in advance the timing, intensity or targets of any possible new strikes.
