The test may last one or two days, and applicants may be given the opportunity to retake the test within the same year. The first stage assesses their knowledge of the Ukrainian language and mathematics, whilst the second assesses their knowledge of Ukrainian history and a subject of their choice. Each stage lasts 120 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>It was the length of the exam, which took place over the course of a single day, that sparked a debate about reorganising the exam. The Minister of Education and Science <strong>Andriy Butenko<\/strong> He had previously said that the exam should not be a \u00ablast chance\u00bb for graduates, and that more flexible rules should reduce the psychological pressure in the context of the war.<\/p>\n<h2>A retake will differ from a supplementary sitting<\/h2>\n<p>One of the proposals suggests that applicants should be able to retake the National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT) in the same academic year, even if they have already sat the main sitting. Such a system would potentially be more extensive than the current arrangement for supplementary sittings.<\/p>\n<p>At present, a supplementary sitting is primarily arranged for those who, for valid reasons, were unable to attend the test, or did not start or complete it. In 2026, the grounds for rescheduling included a prolonged air raid alert and technical issues. It is not a general right to improve one\u2019s result after an exam has already been taken.<\/p>\n<p>For any potential new model, the dates for retaking the exams and the procedure for recording the results still need to be determined. Without these rules, it is impossible to talk about a guaranteed retake for all applicants.<\/p>\n<h2>Safety and shelter will determine how the campaign is organised<\/h2>\n<p>In preparing for the 2027 National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT), the Ministry of Education and Science takes into account existing and planned shelters when identifying potential examination centres. Test centres must ensure that candidates can take shelter in the event of an air raid alert.<\/p>\n<p>Admissions criteria are set separately for each admissions cycle, taking into account the security situation, the technical capabilities of the system and the needs of applicants.
