According to the Odesa Regional Military Administration, a commercial cargo ship flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda was hit, and its captain was killed. Details regarding other possible casualties, the nature of the damage to the vessel and its cargo are currently being clarified.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past few months, Russian forces have repeatedly attacked civilian shipping off the coast of the Odesa region. The Odesa Regional Military Administration has reported strikes on foreign merchant vessels, port buildings, storage tanks and warehousing infrastructure.<\/p>\n<h2>The warehouses were attacked twice in a row<\/h2>\n<p>Warehouses came under particular attack. According to the regional authorities, Russian troops attacked facilities storing civilian goods on two consecutive occasions.<\/p>\n<p>Combination <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/economics\/ahroeksport-vpav-ryzyky-portiv\/\">attacks on the port<\/a>, commercial vessels and onshore warehouses poses risks to both the maritime transport and storage of cargo. At the same time, the available data do not allow us to conclude that this was a single, coordinated operation with a specific, common objective.<\/p>\n<h2>WHO is reorganising its logistics following damage to a warehouse<\/h2>\n<p>A World Health Organisation warehouse in Chornomorsk has been damaged. According to the WHO\u2019s preliminary assessment, the damage affected a temperature-controlled facility where medical supplies were stored. No organisation staff were on the premises at the time of the strike.<\/p>\n<p>The WHO has described this facility as its fourth depot in Ukraine to have been damaged in the last three months. The organisation has also recorded the 21st attack in 2026 on medical supplies storage facilities and is reorganising its logistics to minimise the risk of disruptions to the supply of medicines.<\/p>\n<h2>The fires that broke out following the attack on 22 September were put out intermittently<\/h2>\n<p>The day before, on 22 September, the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration <strong>Oleg Kiper<\/strong> reported that rocket-powered drones had struck warehouses in the region. This led to large-scale fires; one person was killed and two others were hospitalised.<\/p>\n<p>Rescue workers were forced to temporarily halt their fire-fighting efforts due to repeated air raid alerts and the threat of further strikes.
