The EU Competitiveness Council is due to formally consider the disbursement on 24 September. Approval at ambassadorial level does not mean that the funds have already been transferred to Ukraine.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<p><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>EU ambassadors have endorsed Ukraine\u2019s application for the eighth tranche of the Ukraine Facility.<\/li>\n<li>The estimated funding amounts to around \u20ac2.8 billion.<\/li>\n<li>The Council of the EU is due to consider formal approval on 24 September.<\/li>\n<li>The final amount of the payment will be announced following the decision by the Council of the EU.<\/li>\n<li>A separate tranche of the Ukraine Support Loan may be made available before the end of September.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>The approval of the ambassadors does not yet mean that funds will be received<\/h2>\n<p>Once the application has been approved by the ambassadors, a formal decision is required <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/politics\/chazhasty-ukraina-yes-volyn\/\">Council of the EU<\/a>. It is following this that the final amount of the payment under the scheme is to be announced.<\/p>\n<p>The procedure involves a separate technical stage for the transfer of funds. Therefore, the approval of the application and the subsequent formal decision should not be equated with the actual receipt of funding by Ukraine.<\/p>\n<h2>Payments under the programme are conditional upon Ukraine\u2019s fulfilment of the Plan<\/h2>\n<p>The Ukraine Facility links funding to the implementation of the agreed steps set out in the Ukraine Plan. It covers reforms aimed at rebuilding and modernising the state, as well as bringing Ukraine closer to membership of the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson for the European Commission <strong>Guillaume Mercier<\/strong> stated that Ukraine must press ahead with reforms agreed with the EU as part of the financial support package. He placed particular emphasis on the rule of law and the fight against corruption. According to him, the relevant commitments had been agreed with the Ukrainian authorities and ratified by the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n<h2>Ukraine is also expecting a separate payment under the Ukraine Support Loan<\/h2>\n<p>The Ukraine Support Loan is a separate mechanism from the Ukraine Facility. The next tranche under this facility may be disbursed by the end of September, provided the stipulated conditions are met.<\/p>\n<p>Among the conditions reported by Suspilne are the introduction of taxation on income earned via digital platforms and on international parcels valued at up to \u20ac150. The Verkhovna Rada is also due to appoint three missing experts to the selection committee responsible for selecting members of the Accounting Chamber.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/evrokomisija-obmezhue-timchasovij-zahist\/\">European Commission<\/a> links budgetary support under this mechanism to requirements relating to the rule of law, the fight against corruption and economic sustainability.
