The adaptation was based on the novel of the same name by Ali Hazelwood.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1927\" data-end=\"2244\">When adapting such a story for the screen, the main challenge is to convincingly portray the transition from agreement to trust. The reader has access to the character\u2019s inner thoughts and feelings, whereas a film must convey them through dialogue, glances and behaviour. In his view, the film employs the usual tropes of romantic comedies, but the acting and direction help to keep the story engaging.
