The sequel will be directed by Chris Columbus, who wrote the screenplay for the original film. However, audiences will have to wait a little longer: the film was previously scheduled for release in November 2027.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" dir=\"auto\" data-section-id=\"f38yjw\" data-start=\"704\" data-end=\"741\">What was shown in the \u00abGremlins 3\u00bb teaser\u00bb<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"743\" data-end=\"924\">In a short clip, lasting about 11 seconds, Gizmo makes an appearance: the fluffy character peeks out of a rucksack. The video ends with an announcement that the film will be released in cinemas in October 2028.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"926\" data-end=\"1124\">The teaser primarily serves as a reminder that a familiar character is returning. For him, this marks a return to a story he worked on right at the start of his career.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"1694\">According to TheWrap, the current version of the script is being written by Anna Marks, based on a draft by Columbus, Zach Lipowski and Adam Stein. <strong data-start=\"1592\" data-end=\"1656\">Steven Spielberg is involved in the project as an executive producer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"auto\" data-section-id=\"1fumes5\" data-start=\"1696\" data-end=\"1731\">When will \u00abGremlins 3\u00bb be released in cinemas?<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1733\" data-end=\"1938\">The new release date announced is \u2014 <strong data-start=\"1763\" data-end=\"1785\">6 October 2028<\/strong>. The premiere had previously been scheduled for 19 November 2027, so the wait will continue for almost eleven months.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1940\" data-end=\"2212\">It will be some time before the third instalment is released <strong data-start=\"1979\" data-end=\"2011\">38 years after *Gremlins 2*\u00ab<\/strong>. The first film was released in 1984, and its sequel in 1990. Both films were directed by Joe Dante, so the new film will also mark a change of director for the main film series.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2214\" data-end=\"2428\">In the meantime, the story has also been adapted into an animated series: in 2023, the prequel series *Gremlins: The Secrets of the Mogwai* was launched.
