The preventive measure was imposed in proceedings concerning the circumstances surrounding the payment of a 150 million hryvnia bail bond for former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, according to the Anti-Corruption Action Centre.<\/p>\n
Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n The lawyers requested that the investigating judge\u2019s ruling be set aside and that the detective\u2019s application for a preventive measure be dismissed. One of the arguments put forward was that, during the period in which the alleged offences took place, Gladyshenko<\/strong> had voluntarily stepped down from his duties as chairman of the bank\u2019s supervisory board.<\/p>\n The prosecutor from the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor\u2019s Office objected to the complaints. He referred to the details of a meeting between Hladyshenko and another suspect by Valentin Yelizarov<\/strong> regarding the transfer of funds. The prosecutor interpreted the reference to \u00abpounds\u00bb as evidence that Hladyshenko was aware of the matter; this is the prosecution\u2019s position.<\/p>\n Gladyshenko is not permitted to leave Kyiv without authorisation, must surrender his passports and refrain from communicating with those involved in the proceedings. Some of the financial transactions being investigated by the authorities were channelled through Sens Bank accounts.<\/p>\n According to the prosecution, Gladyshenko ensured that the bank did not pose any obstacles to the deposit of funds, and enlisted the director of the financial monitoring department Lyudmila Snigur<\/strong>. The court had previously set bail at 15 million hryvnias for the bank\u2019s chairman, Oleksiy Stupak, and 3 million hryvnias for Snigur.<\/p>\n On 8 September, the investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court set bail for Hladyshenko. The prosecution had requested that he be remanded in custody, with an alternative bail of 20 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n The decision of the Appeals Chamber took legal effect upon its pronouncement and is not subject to appeal by way of cassation.
