Despite the damage caused, the incident has not affected the availability of core services \u2014 the operator\u2019s telecoms and internet services continue to operate as normal.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\"><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Ukrtelecom facility has been damaged in Kyiv.<\/li>\n<li>The company\u2019s services remain available.<\/li>\n<li>Telecommunications and the internet are operating as normal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>The damage did not cause a major disruption<\/h2>\n<p>Representatives of \u00ab\u2019 reported the damage to the site,\u00ab<strong>Ukrtelecom<\/strong>\u00bb. According to the company, the main telecommunications infrastructure continues to function. Subscribers retain access to the internet and telecoms services. There have been no reports of widespread network disruptions following the latest attack. The company\u2019s specialists are assessing the consequences of the attack and the condition of the damaged infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abUkrtelecom\u00bb has an extensive telecommunications network across Ukraine and provides fixed-line telephone services and broadband internet access.<\/p>\n<h2>Russia has stepped up its attacks on telecommunications infrastructure<\/h2>\n<p>The damage to the Ukrtelecom facility occurred against the backdrop of a series of attacks on Kyiv\u2019s digital and telecommunications infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>On 23 September, following <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/viyna\/kyiv-poshkodzheno-merezhi-internet-provideriv\/\">of the Russian strike<\/a> Around 100,000 households in Kyiv and the surrounding region experienced problems with internet access. Several internet service providers reported disruptions at the time.<\/p>\n<p>On 25 September, it was damaged as a result of a subsequent attack <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/suspilstvo\/ukraina-zakhyst-internetu-data-centry\/\">data centre<\/a> Datagroup. The company stated that no staff were harmed and that services were maintained thanks to its backup infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>According to the company, the current disruption affecting \u00abUkrtelecom\u00bb has not resulted in any interruption to service provision either.<\/p>\n<h2>Russia has announced strikes on communications facilities<\/h2>\n<p>On 28 September, the Russian Ministry of Defence stated that during a night-time attack, Russian troops had targeted, amongst other things, telecommunications facilities in Kyiv. The Russian side claimed to have struck \u00abUkrtelecom\u00bb infrastructure. \u00abUkrtelecom\u00bb confirmed that its facility had been damaged, whilst emphasising that services remained available
