Candidates can choose between the Ukrainian and English versions of the test, according to Interior Minister Ivan Vyhovskyi. The change applies only to the language in which the theory test is taken and does not alter the procedure for obtaining a driving licence.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<p><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The English-language theory test went live on 30 September.<\/li>\n<li>The service is available to foreign nationals and stateless persons who are lawfully resident in the country.<\/li>\n<li>The translation of the test questions is commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior\u2019s Main Service Centre.<\/li>\n<li>You have 20 minutes to complete the test; you are allowed two mistakes.<\/li>\n<li>The exam is taken in person at the Ministry of the Interior\u2019s service centres.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Who is affected by the change and how was the translation prepared?<\/h2>\n<p>The new procedure provides for <a href=\"https:\/\/zakon.rada.gov.ua\/laws\/show\/z1130-25#Text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Order No. 501 of the Ministry of the Interior<\/a> dated 29 May 2026. In the spring, the Ministry explained that the change was intended to make the administrative service more accessible to foreign nationals and stateless persons and to regulate the official translation of examination papers.<\/p>\n<p>The questions in English are translated at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs\u2019 Main Service Centre. The Ministry states that the English-language version complies with the current Highway Code. Previously, the theory test was conducted in Ukrainian only.<\/p>\n<h2>The test format and marking criteria remain unchanged<\/h2>\n<p>Candidates must answer 20 questions in 20 minutes. To pass, they are allowed no more than two mistakes; after three incorrect answers, the exam is deemed to have been failed.<\/p>\n<p>The system automatically generates the examination paper from an approved question bank. The test is conducted at an automated workstation in a specially equipped room at the regional service centre of the Ministry of the Interior.<\/p>\n<h2>How to book a theory test at a service centre<\/h2>\n<p>You can book via the system <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/suspilstvo\/e-zapys-mvs-7-milioniv-zapysiv\/\">Online booking<\/a>, the Ministry of Internal Affairs\u2019 service centres\u2019 mobile app, or a self-service terminal at your chosen centre. Official driving tests are conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs\u2019 service centres.<\/p>\n<p>It is not possible to sit the full theory test remotely.
