Based on the results for the first eight months of 2026, the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection identified irregularities in <strong>88.61 TP3T inspections carried out<\/strong> \u2014 in fact, in almost nine out of ten cases.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\"><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection carried out 140 unscheduled inspections in the housing and communal services sector.<\/li>\n<li>Violations of pricing legislation were identified in 88.6% cases.<\/li>\n<li>Service providers have been ordered to transfer payments totalling 92.67 million hryvnias.<\/li>\n<li>As at the end of August, a total of 636,800 UAH had actually been refunded to consumers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Almost nine out of ten inspections revealed breaches<\/h2>\n<p>Since the start of 2026, experts from the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection have carried out <strong>140 unannounced inspections<\/strong> companies providing housing and communal services. Inspectors checked the extent to which these companies correctly calculate, set and apply state-regulated prices and <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/vazhlyvo-znaty\/shcho-zminytsia-z-1-zhovtnia-2026\/\">tariffs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The breach was identified in <strong>88.61 TP3T inspections<\/strong>. Based on the findings, the enterprises were issued with orders to rectify the breaches and carry out recalculations, whilst administrative and financial sanctions were imposed on certain entities. Officials were also held administratively liable.<\/p>\n<h2>Consumers are to be reimbursed 92.67 million hryvnias<\/h2>\n<p>The total amount that service providers are required to refund to members of the public as a result of the recalculations is <strong>92.67 million UAH<\/strong>. However, this does not mean that the money will automatically be distributed amongst all Ukrainians. It concerns specific consumers and specific businesses in respect of which inspections have revealed that tariffs were incorrectly formulated, set or applied.<\/p>\n<p>As at the end of August, the following amounts had actually been transferred and refunded <strong>636.8 thousand UAH<\/strong>. Work on implementing the other decisions is continuing.<\/p>\n<h2>What to do if you suspect your utility bill is incorrect\u00ab<\/h2>\n<p>The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection emphasises that if a consumer has doubts about the validity of a tariff or believes that charges for housing and communal services have been calculated incorrectly, they may contact the service\u2019s regional office. Where there are sufficient grounds, specialists may carry out an inspection of the company.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Head of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection <strong>Andriy Kreitor<\/strong> He pointed out that the aim of the audit is not only to establish the fact of the breach itself, but also to carry out recalculations and refund people the money they have overpaid.<\/p>\n<p>When making a complaint, it is advisable to keep hold of payment slips, bills, details of your current tariff and any previous correspondence with the service provider, if applicable.<\/p>\n<h2>Violations relating to tariffs had been recorded previously<\/h2>\n<p>The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection also recorded issues with the accuracy of utility bill calculations during the previous year. In 2025, the service carried out 368 unscheduled inspections in the housing and utilities sector. Violations were identified in 331 cases, or <strong>89.91 TP3T inspections<\/strong>, and following the recalculations, 53.5 million hryvnias were refunded to consumers.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, the proportion of inspections in which breaches were identified has remained close to 90% for the second year
