Ukraine had stated its readiness to take such a step, whilst the publication assessed Russia\u2019s readiness as low.<\/p>\n<p>In September <strong>Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/strong> said that the US is pushing for three measures: an end to attacks on the energy sector, the reopening of the Black Sea grain corridor, and <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/politics\/us-ukraine-russia-energy-truce-talks\/\">tripartite meeting<\/a> the USA, Ukraine and Russia.<\/p>\n<h2>Context and the parties\u2019 expectations<\/h2>\n<p>Axios reports that the administration <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> is hoping for a diplomatic breakthrough before the US mid-term elections and before winter. An unnamed Ukrainian official, speaking to the publication, suggested that Vladimir Putin\u2019s stance could be influenced by Russia\u2019s need for sanctions relief and the US mid-term elections.<\/p>\n<p>In Kyiv, there remains scepticism regarding the prospects for an agreement.
