A further 18 people were injured, including two children. The updated figures were released by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Russian guided bombs struck a residential area of the city, causing the destruction of blocks of flats. Rescue workers are continuing to clear the rubble and search for people who may still be trapped beneath it. According to law enforcement officials, five strikes were carried out on residential areas of the city. Two bombs hit blocks of flats, causing significant damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>One of the entrance halls of a block of flats has partially collapsed<\/strong>. People were trapped under the concrete structures, after which the rescue services launched a large-scale search operation.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, the death toll rose several times. Initially, five deaths were reported; later, the figures rose to 11, 12 and 15. According to the latest figures from the State Emergency Service, <strong>17 people were killed<\/strong>, including three children. A further 18 people were injured, including two children.<\/p>\n<h2>Rescue workers are continuing to clear the rubble<\/h2>\n<p>Units from the State Emergency Service, police officers, dog handlers and other emergency services are working at the scene of the incident. Experts are clearing away the collapsed concrete structures, checking cavities beneath the rubble and searching for people.<\/p>\n<p>During the rescue operation, a woman who had been trapped under the rubble for over eight hours was successfully rescued. She was given the necessary medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>Search and rescue operations are being hampered by the large number of destroyed structures and the threat of further Russian shelling.<\/p>\n<h2>Dozens of residential buildings have been damaged in Zaporizhzhia<\/h2>\n<p>The air strikes caused damage not only to the building that was directly hit by Russian munitions. The shockwave and debris damaged neighbouring high-rise blocks and private homes.<\/p>\n<p>According to preliminary reports from the local authorities, at least 26 residential buildings have been damaged. Law enforcement officers are documenting the aftermath of the shelling, whilst municipal services are assisting residents who have lost their homes or possessions.<\/p>\n<p>In Zaporizhzhia, 11 October
