The US President has stated that European countries continue to fund the Russian economy through energy purchases, despite Washington\u2019s criticism of their cooperation with Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, <strong>The European Union paid Russia $250 billion for energy supplies<\/strong>. Trump also accused the media of being reluctant to report on these payments. In his statement, the US President emphasised that he considers the agreement with Russia to be the right decision for the American people.<\/p>\n<p>This statement marked a continuation of the dispute between Washington and its European allies over sanctions against the Russian energy sector.<\/p>\n<h2>The US has reached an agreement with Russia on the supply of diesel<\/h2>\n<p>On 9 October, Donald Trump announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/politics\/tramp-putin-dyzel-sanktsii-zelenskyi-2026\/\">agreement<\/a> from <strong>Vladimir Putin<\/strong>, which provides for an increase in supplies of Russian diesel fuel to global markets. They have expressed concern about the potential additional revenue for the Russian budget.<\/p>\n<p>Trump dismissed the criticism and emphasised the priority of US economic interests.<\/p>\n<h2>How much did the European Union actually pay Russia for energy supplies?<\/h2>\n<p>The procurement of Russian energy resources is one of the most contentious issues in economic relations between the EU and Russia since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>According to Reuters figures published in October 2025, EU member states had imported Russian energy resources worth over \u20ac213 billion since February 2022. At the same time, the European Commission reports a significant reduction in energy dependence on Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>The share of Russian gas in total EU imports fell from 45% in 2021 to 12% in 2025. The share of Russian oil has fallen to approximately 2%, whilst imports of Russian coal have ceased as a result of sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, some European countries continue to purchase
