Catherine Connolly became the new President of Ireland and condemned the invasion of Russia<\/h2>\n

The Irish presidential election was won by left-wing politician Catherine Connolly<\/strong>, who received 61.1% votes<\/strong>. Its main rival is Heather Humphries<\/strong> - scored only 21,1%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The elections were held in a calm atmosphere, and voter participation was one of the highest in the last decade.<\/p>\n

Catherine Connolly is a former Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of the Irish Parliament (D\u00e1il \u00c9ireann)<\/strong>, is known for its active stance on social justice, human rights and gender equality.<\/p>\n

During the campaign, she called for Strengthening social policy and support for educational programmes<\/strong> and Strengthening Ireland's independence in the international arena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
