The medical cabin is built around a stretcher, and the maximum speed, according to the company, reaches 105 km/h; preparation for flight takes around 10 minutes.

The drone is controlled manually. The manufacturer states that its artificial intelligence features are designed to enable it to operate without GPS, particularly in the event of spoofing or jamming; Starlink and its own L-Link channel are provided for communication. In the event of a complete loss of communication, SkyFall claims that the drone will autonomously plot a route to a safe zone.

During a demonstration involving a simulated FPV attack and the operation of electronic warfare systems, StarGate deployed a net which intercepted one test drone and altered its flight path.

This demonstration does not provide any data on the system’s effectiveness against Russian FPVs in real combat conditions.

Why does a unit need air evacuation?

The commander of CODE 9.2, whose call sign is KVN, told the AP that ground operations usually take two to three hours to carry out an evacuation — depending on the distance, road conditions and the threat from the air. In his view, the ability to cover 10 km in a minute could significantly change the evacuation process, but at least a month of operation is needed to obtain meaningful statistics.

The idea for such a vehicle arose in response to a request from the military: ground-based platforms can become stuck in mud, potholes and on damaged roads, and remain vulnerable to drones. In some sectors, the depth of the so-called ‘no-go zone’, where there is a constant threat from drones and artillery, reaches 10–15 km or more.

SkyFall estimates the cost of a single system at from 50,000 dollars, depending on the configuration, and states its intention to reach a production rate of up to 1,000 units per month by the end of 2026. Whether the stated evacuation capacity will be realised remains to be seen from the results of field trials.

SkyFall has handed over a prototype of the StarGate evacuation drone to the CODE 9.2 regiment for frontline evaluation.
