According to investigators\u2019 estimates, the value of the gas exceeds 65 million hryvnias. Those implicated include the owner of the company and his employees; if found guilty, they could face up to 12 years\u2019 imprisonment and confiscation of their property.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<p><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Investigators allege that gas has been illegally siphoned off from the main gas pipeline.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme was in operation from January 2025 to March 2026.<\/li>\n<li>According to the police, the consumption data was altered in the accounting systems.<\/li>\n<li>Searches were carried out in the Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions.<\/li>\n<li>The investigation is ongoing; the final decision will be made by the court.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>How, according to the investigation, they concealed their consumption<\/h2>\n<p>Law enforcement officers believe that an organised group has set up an illegal methane tapping operation on the main pipeline <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/vybukh-hazoprovodu-penzenska-oblast\/\">gas pipeline<\/a>. The operations were carried out at the company\u2019s commercial metering point in the village of Slobozhanske, Dniprovskyi District.<\/p>\n<p>According to the investigation, those involved in the scheme tampered with data in automated accounting systems without authorisation in order to conceal the actual volumes of the resource used. The law enforcement agencies\u2019 account of events covers the period from January 2025 to March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>A commercial metering point is a location where, based on data from the metering unit, the volume of gas intended for transmission, distribution, consumption or supply is determined. It is this data that is used in calculations on the gas market.<\/p>\n<h2>Searches in two regions and the circle of those implicated<\/h2>\n<p>Police officers, together with SBU staff, carried out searches at the homes of those implicated in the case in the Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions. Charges have been brought against the company\u2019s owner and employees, who, according to the National Police, include managers of various departments, operators, mechanics and drivers.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators are establishing the role of each suspect in the unlawful diversion of gas, the manipulation of information systems and the operation of the scheme. A notice of suspicion does not imply proven guilt.<\/p>\n<h2>Classification of the case and further investigation<\/h2>\n<p>The actions of the suspects were classified under Section 5 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code \u2014 theft on an exceptionally large scale or committed by an organised group \u2014 and under Article 28(3) and Article 362(3) of the Criminal Code concerning unauthorised handling of information committed by an organised group.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/suspilstvo\/shakhraiskyi-kol-tsentr-stryi-pidozry-15-rokiv\/\">Pre-trial investigation<\/a> The investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The regional prosecutor\u2019s office is overseeing the proceedings, whilst operational support was provided by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
