The incident occurred at around 19:20 local time whilst the aircraft was landing. Due to the risk of fire, the airport authorities closed the runway for 15 minutes. The aircraft was able to taxi to the apron under its own power; there are no reports of any casualties. A video shared by eyewitnesses shows a bright flash near the tail section of the aircraft.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 696px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-34272-1\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/telegram-cloud-document-2-5391303697403787145.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/telegram-cloud-document-2-5391303697403787145.mp4\">https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/telegram-cloud-document-2-5391303697403787145.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>Airport emergency and rescue services were dispatched to the aircraft. Meanwhile, the \u00abRuslan\u00bb remained capable of moving under its own power and made its way to the stand. The runway was closed at 19:22. Following an inspection, it was reopened at 19:37 \u2014 the closure lasted 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports in the Japanese media, the incident did not cause any significant disruption to the passenger flight timetable.<\/p>\n<h2>Which aeroplane was involved in the incident and where did it come from?<\/h2>\n<p>According to the specialist aviation publication *Kryla*, an An-124-100 with registration number UR-82029 landed at Tyubu Airport. The aircraft was operating cargo flight ADB5561 from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Nagoya, Japan.<\/p>\n<p>The nature of the cargo being carried by the Ukrainian aircraft remains unknown. Representatives of Antonov Airlines have not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Some social media users have suggested that the fire may have started in the vicinity of the auxiliary power unit. However, there are currently no confirmed findings regarding a fault in the engines or other aircraft systems.<\/p>\n<h2>What is known about the An-124 \u00abRuslan\u00bb<\/h2>\n<p>The An-124 \u00abRuslan\u00bb is one of the largest production transport aircraft in the world, developed by the Antonov Design Bureau in Kyiv. It made its maiden flight in December 1982.<\/p>\n<p>The aircraft is designed to carry large and extremely heavy cargo, including industrial equipment, power generation units and specialised machinery. The standard An-124-100 variant can carry up to 120 tonnes of cargo, whilst the modernised versions can carry up to 150 tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>Following the start of Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion and the closure of Ukraine\u2019s airspace, Antonov Airlines relocated its main operational base to Leipzig Airport in Germany\/<a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/germany-russia-drone-sabotage-leipzig\/\">Halle<\/a>. From there, Ukrainian cargo aircraft continue to carry out international commercial flights.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese aviation authorities must now identify the source of the fire and determine whether the
