In Togliatti, the \u00abTogliattikauchuk\u00bb petrochemical plant was struck, where an explosion and a fire were reported. The company specialises in the manufacture of electronic components used in the Russian Federation\u2019s defence industry.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Ukrainian military command, the plant carries out the full production cycle for optoelectronic equipment and electronic devices \u2014 from the manufacture of crystals to finished products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The company\u2019s products include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>electronic modules for the S-71 \u00abKover\u00bb air-to-air missiles;<\/li>\n<li>inverter switches for 9M723 \u00abIskander-M\u00bb ballistic missiles;<\/li>\n<li>components used in the manufacture of the \u00abPantsir-S1\u00bb anti-aircraft missile and gun systems and their variants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The General Staff emphasised that the strikes on the company\u2019s production facilities are aimed at disrupting the supply of components for Russian weapons.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian authorities have also confirmed an attack on an industrial facility in Orel. The Governor of the Orel Region <strong>Andriy Klychkov<\/strong> reported a fire at a factory in the Sovetsky district of the city. According to him, eight people were injured as a result of the blast.<\/p>\n<p>The exact extent of the damage to the production equipment and the implications for the plant\u2019s future operations are not yet known.<\/p>\n<h2>The \u00abTolyattikauchuk\u00bb petrochemical complex in Tolyatti has been hit\u00bb<\/h2>\n<p>Another target of the strikes was the \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/ataka-bpla-tolyatti-pozhezha-kauchuk\/\">Tolyattikauchuk<\/a>\u00bb in the city of Togliatti, Samara Oblast.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement from the General Staff, an explosion and a fire were reported in the vicinity of the factory. Local residents also posted videos showing thick smoke rising above the city\u2019s industrial area.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abTolyattikauchuk\u00bb is part of the Russian \u00abTatneft\u00bb group and is a major producer of petrochemical products.<\/p>\n<p>The company manufactures synthetic rubbers, monomers, hydrocarbon fractions and high-octane petrol additives. Synthetic rubbers, in particular, are used in the production of solid rocket propellant for tactical and ballistic missiles.<\/p>\n<p>The General Staff noted that strikes on such facilities are aimed at disrupting the supply chains for raw materials for the Russian missile programme.<\/p>\n<h2>A Russian aircraft has been hit at Yeysk airfield<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to industrial enterprises, <strong>Ukrainian forces carried out a strike on aircraft at the Yeysk airfield\u00ab<\/strong> in the Krasnodar Krai region of Russia.<\/p>\n<p>The General Staff has confirmed that an aircraft was hit, but did not specify its type or model. The extent of the damage to the aircraft is currently being assessed. There is currently no information regarding its complete destruction or the loss of any other aircraft.<\/p>\n<h2>The General Staff has explained the purpose of the strikes on targets in Russia<\/h2>\n<p>The General Staff emphasised that the Defence Forces are carrying out strikes against targets that support the Russian military-industrial complex and the conduct of hostilities against Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The Ukrainian command cited <a href=\"https:\/\/zakon.rada.gov.ua\/laws\/show\/995_010#Text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-schema-attribute=\"about\">Article 51 of the UN Charter<\/a>, which enshrines the right of states to individual and collective self-defence.<\/p>\n<p>The Defence Forces will continue to strike
