He also called for compassion towards military personnel <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/vybory-derzhduma-mobilizatsiia-rosiia-2026\/\">the Russian army<\/a>, describing them as young men who are allegedly unable to refuse to take part in combat operations.<\/p>\n<p>The entrepreneur was replying to a post by a user on X going by the pseudonym Skscartoon. The user suggested that the decision <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/sikorskyi-mask-starlink-obmezhennia-zsu\/\">Mask<\/a> regarding assistance to Ukraine <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/mask-starlink-zahroza-suputnykam\/\">Starlink<\/a> and subsequent restrictions on the use of the system were dictated by the desire to save lives.<\/p>\n<p>The claim that all Russian soldiers have no choice but to take part in the war is Musk\u2019s personal assessment. The Russian Armed Forces comprise not only conscripts, but also contract soldiers and other categories of military personnel.<\/p>\n<h2>Previous statements regarding the civilian Starlink and Starshield programmes<\/h2>\n<p>The day before, Musk claimed that the Ukrainian army had allegedly used a civilian Starlink system for offensive operations <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/politics\/zelenskyi-100-dniv-udary-npz-starlink-wsj\/\">drone strikes<\/a> in breach of the system\u2019s rules. According to him, <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/science-tech\/starlink-mobile-globalnyi-zapusk-5g\/\">SpaceX<\/a> has blocked the relevant satellite communication capability.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the businessman described Starlink as vital for Ukraine\u2019s defence and noted that the system had helped the Ukrainian military in the early days of Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion. He also distinguished <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/politics\/ssha-starshield-dlya-ukrayiny\/\">Starshield<\/a> \u2014 a system for US government and military purposes which, he said, is controlled by the US government.<\/p>\n<h2>Ukrainian experts have denied that civilian terminals were used for attacks<\/h2>\n<p>Serhiy Beskrestnov, the Ukrainian President\u2019s adviser on the development of defence technology, stated that civilian terminals have technical limitations that prevent them from being used for certain types of long-range strikes.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteer and former adviser to the Minister of Defence <strong>Serhiy Sternenko<\/strong> He also said that for combat missions involving <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/politics\/trump-zelenskyi-riziki-dopomohy-ssha\/\">via satellite communication<\/a> Starshield is used.
