Russia has expressed its willingness to hold a trilateral meeting between the negotiating teams of Ukraine, the US and Russia, which is due to take place in November. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined the main issues Kyiv plans to raise: an end to attacks on the energy sector, security in the Black Sea, the exchange of prisoners and a possible meeting with Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy outlined his expectations for the talks with Russia<\/h2>\n

According to the president, Ukraine is ready for trilateral talks involving American and Russian representatives. Kyiv hopes that the meeting will yield concrete results, even if the parties are unable to reach an immediate agreement on ending the war.<\/p>\n

Zelensky<\/strong> explained that, during discussions with the American delegation, they had discussed possible interim agreements.<\/p>\n

Among them are \u2014 a halt to attacks on energy infrastructure<\/a>, agreements on the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, the resumption of full-scale grain exports, and the exchange of prisoners of war on an \u00aball for all\u00bb basis.<\/p>\n

The President emphasised that such decisions could demonstrate Russia\u2019s genuine willingness to cease hostilities.<\/p>\n

An energy truce could be the first step<\/h2>\n

Zelenskyy paid particular attention to putting an end to mutual attacks on energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Ukraine is prepared to consider halting attacks on Russian oil refineries, provided that Moscow ceases its strikes on the Ukrainian power grid. The President described an energy ceasefire as a possible first sign of the seriousness of Russia\u2019s intentions. At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine would not agree to any restrictions on the size of its armed forces or to forced neutrality.<\/p>\n

The meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin remains on the agenda<\/h2>\n

The Ukrainian President believes that final decisions on ending the war cannot be taken solely at the level of technical negotiating teams. According to him, territorial issues can only be discussed by heads of state. Agreements on energy, maritime transport and humanitarian issues, however, can be prepared at delegation level.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy had previously announced plans to hold tripartite talks<\/a> in the first half of November. Abu Dhabi was mentioned as one of the possible venues.<\/p>\n

The Russian side has also expressed its willingness, in principle, to resume negotiations; however, a final date for the meeting has not yet been agreed.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
