The women, aged 21 and 23, required the assistance of mountain rescue teams on the route between Mount Hemba and the Zhyd-Magura peak in Zakarpattia. The incident was reported to the State Emergency Service. During the hike, the weather conditions deteriorated, and due to the cold and fatigue, the hikers were unable to continue their journey.<\/p>\n<p>On 27 October at 11.01, the Emergency Services received a report that a 21-year-old female tourist was feeling unwell. Her friend had called for help. Mountain rescuers from Volovets set out to search for them. Using the coordinates provided, they located the girls.<\/p>\n<p>The female tourists were given hot tea to warm them up and were helped down to the lower lift station in the village of Pylypets. They declined further medical assistance.<\/p>\n<h2>Snow has fallen in the Carpathians and a cold snap has set in<\/h2>\n<p>The weather in the highlands deteriorated significantly at the end of October. Snow fell on the peaks, whilst strong winds and fog made it difficult to navigate the hiking trails.<\/p>\n<p>According to the mountain rescue service, this morning <strong>On 28 October, the temperature on Mount Pip Ivan was -1 \u00b0C<\/strong>, there was fog, and the north-easterly wind reached 9 m\/s. The day before, the weather conditions had been even harsher: the temperature had dropped to -4 \u00b0C, and the wind speed was 17 m\/s.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the snow and poor visibility, rescue services are urging tourists to refrain from hiking in the high mountains until weather conditions improve.<\/p>\n<h2>Rescue workers warned tourists of the danger<\/h2>\n<p>At the State Emergency Service <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/dsns_telegram\/79060\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">emphasise<\/a>, as even familiar mountain routes can become dangerous due to sudden changes in the weather.<\/p>\n<p>Before setting off on a hike, tourists are advised to check the weather forecast, take warm, waterproof clothing, a sufficient supply of food and water, a fully charged mobile phone and a power bank. It is also important to let your loved ones know your planned route and approximate time of return.<\/p>\n<p>For emergencies in the mountains, the \u00abMountain Rescue\u00bb app is available, which
