The Counter-Intelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained a driver working for a logistics company in the Kyiv region who is suspected of collaborating with the Russian FSB. According to the investigation, the man was gathering information on the condition of the capital\u2019s combined heat and power stations following Russian shelling and was preparing materials to help plan further attacks. The main targets of his intelligence-gathering were energy facilities in Kyiv and the region that were resuming operations after previous strikes.<\/p>\n
Pros. information<\/a> According to the SBU, the suspect used business trips to gather information about energy infrastructure facilities<\/a> the capital region.<\/p>\n The man drove around the sites of the combined heat and power stations, took photographs of the external condition of the buildings and tried to ascertain to what extent the plants had resumed operations following previous Russian attacks.<\/p>\n He organised the photographs he had collected at home, adding geographical coordinates from Google Maps and his own comments. According to the investigation, the prepared materials were intended for a supervisor at the Russian FSB.<\/p>\n SBU officers documented the suspect\u2019s intelligence-gathering activities, in particular his visit to the vicinity of one of the energy facilities whilst restoration work was being carried out.<\/p>\n According to law enforcement officials, the Russian security services took an interest in the man following his anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram channels.<\/p>\n After being recruited, he maintained contact with FSB representatives via a specially created chatbot, which was used to gather intelligence.<\/p>\n In addition to information about energy companies, the suspect was gathering data on the locations of Ukrainian military repair bases.<\/p>\n During the searches, law enforcement officers seized two mobile phones. According to the SBU, the man attempted to destroy one of the devices in order to conceal evidence of his communications with the Russian secret service.<\/p>\n Investigators from the Security Service informed the man that he was under suspicion of Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong> - high treason committed under martial law.<\/p>\n The court ordered that he be remanded in custody without the option of bail. If found guilty, the suspect faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n The operation was carried out by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine\u2019s Main Directorate for the
