Meanwhile, Lithuania has decided to introduce universal conscription for young men from 2032 onwards, in order to increase the size of its trained military reserve.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\"><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Germany is bolstering the Bundeswehr with tanks, drones and MARS-3 rocket systems.<\/li>\n<li>Eurofighter fighter jets are being upgraded for electronic warfare.<\/li>\n<li>A German brigade in Lithuania will deploy electronic warfare systems to monitor military activity by Russia and Belarus.<\/li>\n<li>Lithuania plans to introduce universal conscription for men aged 18\u201322 from 2032.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Germany is purchasing new weapons<\/h2>\n<p>The Bundeswehr is implementing a large-scale rearmament programme, which involves strengthening the army, the air force and its long-range strike capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Among the key areas are \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/bundesver-perevedennya-viyskovyh-lytva\/\">equipment of the 45th Tank Brigade<\/a>, based in Lithuania, with modern tanks, reconnaissance and attack drones.<\/p>\n<p>Germany is also preparing to deploy the MARS-3 missile systems and is modernising its fighter jets <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/nato-zbylo-dron-rumunii-f16\/\">Eurofighter<\/a> for carrying out electronic warfare tasks.<\/p>\n<p>Together with its partners, Berlin is developing a cruise missile <strong>Taurus Neo<\/strong>. According to the plan, its construction is due to be completed by 2029.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, a defence expert <strong>Christian Melling<\/strong> He warned that the main problem was the delivery times for new weapons. In his view, German programmes generally meet NATO\u2019s defence requirements, but their implementation is behind schedule.<\/p>\n<h2>German electronic warfare systems will monitor Russia and Belarus<\/h2>\n<p>A German brigade in Lithuania will use electronic intelligence assets to detect military activity in the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation and in Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>According to Vice Admiral <strong>Thomas Daum<\/strong>, the information obtained will be used to provide early warnings of threats and to update the databases of the electronic warfare systems of Germany and its allies.<\/p>\n<p>The Bundeswehr is already testing equipment in Lithuania for detecting drones, intercepting signals, electronic countermeasures and transmitting intelligence data.<\/p>\n<p>The deployment of the German brigade is scheduled to be fully completed in 2027.<\/p>\n<h2>Lithuania is to introduce universal conscription for men from 2032<\/h2>\n<p>On 29 October, the Lithuanian State Defence Council approved the transition to universal conscription from 2032. The President announced the decision <strong>Gitanas Nauseda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The new system will cover men aged between 18 and 22. Lithuania currently operates a selective conscription system, which was reinstated in 2015 following Russia\u2019s annexation of Crimea.<\/p>\n<p>Every year, more than five thousand young people are conscripted into the Lithuanian army. Following the transition to a universal conscription system, this figure is set to rise to approximately 7,500.<\/p>\n<p>In order to train additional military personnel, Lithuania needs to expand its infrastructure and train around 350 new instructors.<\/p>\n<p>Women will continue to be able to serve in the armed forces on a voluntary basis. The authorities have not ruled out reviewing this approach in the future, but there is currently no decision to introduce compulsory conscription for
