The city authorities and representatives of the parliamentary committee on transport have announced preparations for the project.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\"><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preparations are under way in Kyiv to build alternative crossings over the Dnipro in the event that the main bridges are damaged.<\/li>\n<li>At least two mobile bridges could be in place by early 2027.<\/li>\n<li>The estimated timeframe for the project is three to four months.<\/li>\n<li>The capital plans to allocate 1 billion hryvnias towards the construction of crossings and access roads.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2 data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">When will the new bridges across the Dnieper be built?<\/h2>\n<p>According to the deputy chair of the parliamentary committee on transport <strong>Volodymyr Kreidenko<\/strong>, the installation of at least two mobile bridges could take three to four months.<\/p>\n<p>Combined structures, which combine earth-filled dams, pontoon elements and metal sections, are being considered for the construction. Western partners are helping Ukraine to obtain the necessary equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Recovery, Infrastructure and Transport <strong>Mykola Kalashnik<\/strong> It was previously reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/suspilstvo\/poromy-pontonni-perepravy-kyiv-mosty\/\">alternative crossings<\/a> must ensure that they provide at least half the capacity of the existing bridges.<\/p>\n<p>However, there is as yet no exact date for the completion of construction. The timetable will depend on the readiness of the access roads, the delivery of structural components and the progress of the engineering works.<\/p>\n<h2>Kyiv plans to allocate 1 billion hryvnias for construction<\/h2>\n<p>On 27 October, the Kyiv Defence Council considered the implementation of the government\u2019s project to build combined water crossings over the Dnipro.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor <strong>Vitali Klitschko<\/strong> He stated that the city would need to find 1 billion hryvnias to fund this work. The locations of the future crossings will be determined by the military command and approved by the Kyiv City Military Administration.<\/p>\n<p>The backup bridges are intended for use in emergencies, when traffic on the main transport routes is restricted or impossible.<\/p>\n<h2>Will the new bridges be able to replace the Southern and Northern bridges?<\/h2>\n<p>Temporary crossings will not be able to fully replace the existing bridges. Their main purpose is to provide alternative routes for the emergency services, public transport and the transport of critical goods.<\/p>\n<p>The need for alternative crossings has become more pressing following a series of Russian attacks on the capital\u2019s transport infrastructure. In particular, on 27 October, a missile strike damaged <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/viyna\/pivdennyi-mist-kyiv-ataka-27-zhovtnia\/\">Southern Bridge<\/a> and the underground network.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the city authorities, in collaboration with the military, are continuing to work on providing additional protection for existing
