The total cost of the package is $2.1 billion.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the State Department\u2019s approval of the sale is one of the stages in the procedure for the transfer of US weapons. It does not mean that all the missiles have already been transferred to Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The exact delivery dates, sources of funding and modifications to the missiles have not yet been specified.<\/p>\n<p>Patriot remains one of the key systems in Ukraine\u2019s air defence network, capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. To ensure the systems operate effectively, Ukraine needs to regularly replenish its stock of interceptors.<\/p>\n<h2>Ukraine needs far more Patriot missiles<\/h2>\n<p>President <strong>Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/strong> It was previously reported that, throughout 2026, Ukraine received an average of just 12 Patriot missiles per month from the US.<\/p>\n<p>According to the head of state, Ukraine needs around 150 such missiles a month to counter Russian ballistic strikes.<\/p>\n<p>On 26 October, Zelenskyy also stated that there had been delays in obtaining US approval for the transfer to Ukraine of Patriot and NASAMS missiles purchased by European partners.<\/p>\n<p>Deliveries are made, in particular, as part of the programme <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/estonia-10m-euro-ukraine-purl\/\">PURL<\/a>, which allows NATO countries to fund the purchase of US weapons for Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>In September, the US State Department had already approved a separate package of air defence equipment worth $2.68 billion. This included missiles for S-300-type systems, launchers, radars and other equipment.
