Against the backdrop of these intensifying attacks, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the US to speed up the transfer of 500 PAC-3 interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems, which are essential for protecting Ukrainian cities this winter.The head of state made this statement whilst commenting on the US State Department\u2019s decision to approve the potential sale of 500 PAC-3 MSE missiles to Ukraine, worth $2.1 billion. In the last two weeks of October alone <strong>More than 30 attacks on key parts of the power grid have been recorded<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Moscow is attempting to disrupt the functioning of life-support systems in Ukrainian towns and communities. The main targets remain power stations, heating and water supply facilities, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/suspilstvo\/kyiv-novi-mosty-dnipro-2027\/\">transport infrastructure<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zelensky<\/strong> He emphasised that the intensification of Russian attacks is taking place just before the heating season, when the stable operation of the power grid is particularly important.<\/p>\n<h2>Ukraine is requesting 100 PAC-3 missiles per month<\/h2>\n<p>The Ukrainian side has proposed to its American partners that a winter aid package be put together, based on a rate of 100 Patriot interceptors per month.<\/p>\n<p>According to Zelenskyy\u2019s assessment, <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/main-news\/ssha-prodazh-500-raket-patriot-ukraini\/\">the transfer of 500 missiles<\/a> in the coming months, this would enable a significant strengthening of Ukraine\u2019s air defences during the Russian offensive.<\/p>\n<p>PAC-3 MSE missiles are designed, in particular, to intercept ballistic targets, against which Ukraine has limited defence capabilities.<\/p>\n<h2>The US has approved the sale, but deliveries may be delayed<\/h2>\n<p>On 30 October, the US State Department approved the potential sale of 500 interceptors to Ukraine <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/economics\/yes-ukraina-pac3-patriot-kredyt\/\">PAC-3<\/a> MSE and associated equipment worth approximately 2.1 billion dollars.<\/p>\n<p>The procurement will be funded by Ukraine and international partners, including Canada, Germany, Norway and the European Union. The main manufacturer of the missiles is the American company Lockheed Martin.<\/p>\n<p>However, approval of the sale does not mean that the weapons will be received immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Zelenskyy proposed that missiles from the existing stocks of the US and European allies be transferred to Ukraine as early as the winter of 2026\u20132027. Subsequently, the partners could replenish their own arsenals through new production, which is already being funded under defence contracts.<\/p>\n<p>The President thanked the administration <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> in favour of approving the procurement, but called for an additional resolution to be passed that would enable Ukraine to obtain the necessary interceptors before the
