As a result of the incident, at least three workers sustained minor injuries. A large plume of smoke rose above the factory, and the explosion could be heard even in neighbouring towns. According to the Andalusian emergency services, the explosion occurred at around 9.00 am in the El Farge area near Granada. Dispatchers received more than 30 calls from local residents.<\/p>\n<p>The epicentre of the explosion was in a special area of the plant designated for the disposal of old, damaged or unserviceable ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>According to representatives of the UGT trade union, the incident may have occurred during a routine test of the munition. The area was cordoned off and the workers were at a safe distance.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters, police, paramedics and bomb disposal experts arrived at the scene. Law enforcement officers established a security perimeter.<\/p>\n<h2>What is known about the victims<\/h2>\n<p>According to official figures from the 112 emergency services, three men aged 40, 51 and 58 suffered minor hearing damage. They were taken to the Virgen de las Nieves Hospital in Granada for examination.<\/p>\n<p>The UGT trade union also reported that two workers had suffered minor burns, although the official report from the emergency services confirmed that three people had been injured.<\/p>\n<p>The Czechoslovak Group, which owns the plant, stated that the production facilities had not been damaged. No serious damage to surrounding buildings was found either. According to the company\u2019s assessment, the explosion is not expected to have any long-term impact on production.<\/p>\n<h2>The second incident in two and a half weeks<\/h2>\n<p>The factory in Granada is part of the Czechoslovak Group defence conglomerate via the Slovak MSM Group. The company manufactures <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/economics\/vr-skhvalyla-1-3-trln-grn-oborona-bezpeka\/\">ammunition, in particular for supply to Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second incident involving the company this October.<\/p>\n<p>On 13 October, a lorry carrying mortar ammunition from this factory overturned on the A-4002 road near Granada. The cargo was linked to supplies to Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the accident, the road was temporarily closed and bomb disposal experts were called in.
