Shipping containers are being installed around critical substation equipment to form protective barriers. In addition, the facilities are being covered with multi-layered anti-drone nets. Footage of this has been shared by monitoring channels.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\"><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In Russia, power stations are being fenced off with shipping containers.<\/li>\n<li>Transformer equipment is further protected by anti-drone nets.<\/li>\n<li>Similar systems are already being installed at Russian oil refineries.<\/li>\n<li>Container walls do not guarantee protection against impacts from above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>The Russians are fencing off the transformers with containers<\/h2>\n<p>The published images show an electrical substation where several rows of shipping containers have been placed around the transformer equipment. Metal structures and protective netting have also been erected over the site.<\/p>\n<p>Such structures are designed to minimise the impact of drone strikes. <strong>Containers create an additional barrier<\/strong> around expensive equipment, whilst the nets are designed to prevent drones from coming into direct contact with it.<\/p>\n<p>Russia is already implementing similar measures at its oil refineries. In September, protective walls made of shipping containers were erected at the Novoshakhtinsk and <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/world\/ataka-kstovskyi-npz-rosiia-1-lystopada-2026\/\">Kstovo Oil Refinery<\/a>, and in October \u2014 at the Ilsky Plant in the Krasnodar Region.<\/p>\n<h2>Can containers protect energy infrastructure?<\/h2>\n<p>Protective walls can reduce the risk of damage from debris and drones attacking at low altitude. However, they do not provide complete protection against impacts from above, particularly if the equipment remains exposed.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the construction of such shelters requires additional materials, installation work and funding.<\/p>\n<p>Russia is also installing anti-drone structures at electricity substations in Moscow. At the end of August, similar work was observed at the \u00abAbramovo\u00bb substation in the eastern part of the capital.<\/p>\n<p>The strengthening of physical security at energy facilities is
