Therefore, the President\u2019s statement alone does not automatically mean that all payments will cease.<\/p>\n<h2>Netanyahu had previously suggested turning down US aid<\/h2>\n<p>Back in early 2026, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to gradually reduce the country\u2019s dependence on US military aid.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with CBS in May, he confirmed that he had discussed the matter directly with Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu proposed gradually reducing US funding to zero over the next ten years.<\/p>\n<p>His concept envisaged a shift from a model of free military aid to a broader defence and technological partnership.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, the discussions centred on the development of joint military projects, the defence industry and cutting-edge technologies.<\/p>\n<p>However, the timeframe mentioned by Trump \u2014 the end of 2026 \u2014 is considerably shorter than the Israeli Prime Minister\u2019s previous ten-year plan.<\/p>\n<h2>What will happen to US aid to Israel?<\/h2>\n<p>As of 3 November 2026, Trump had publicly announced his intention to cease regular funding for Israel at the end of the current year.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the White House has not yet released any details regarding the implementation of this decision, and the Israeli side has not confirmed the reported agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The current memorandum provides for military assistance until 2028, and any subsequent changes will depend, in particular, on decisions taken by the US Congress.<\/p>\n<p>So, at present, this is a political statement by the US President, rather than funding that has already been cut off.
