Trump Media & Technology Group, a company linked to US President Donald Trump, transferred approximately 4,259 bitcoins, worth $343 million, to the cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com. The transaction took place following the Democrats\u2019 victory in the mid-term congressional elections and reports of investigations being prepared into the president\u2019s family\u2019s financial dealings. The large-scale transfer has attracted the attention of the cryptocurrency market, although there is currently no confirmation that the digital assets have been sold.<\/p>\n
According to Arkham<\/strong>, two cryptocurrency wallets linked to Trump Media & Technology Group transferred a total of 4,259.34 BTC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The transactions took place on 5 November at 02:17 UTC. The first transfer amounted to 2,140.03 BTC, and the second to 2,119.31 BTC. Both amounts were sent to a single address, which the analytics platform links to Crypto.com.<\/p>\n At the time of the transactions, the total value of the assets stood at approximately $343 million.<\/p>\n The origin of the funds attracted particular attention. The bitcoins were transferred from addresses identified by Arkham as collateral for Trump Media\u2019s convertible bonds maturing in 2028.<\/p>\n The company\u2019s financial statements indicated that, as at 30 June, 4,260.73 BTC had been used to secure these liabilities. This amount is almost identical to the value of the new transfer.<\/p>\n Despite reports of a possible sale, blockchain data only confirms the transfer of cryptocurrency between wallets. Transferring assets to an exchange does not necessarily mean they have been sold. Companies may use trading platforms to hold funds, facilitate financial transactions or manage liquidity.<\/p>\n Trump Media has already carried out similar transactions.<\/p>\n In May 2026, the company transferred approximately 2,650 BTC, worth $205 million, to Crypto.com. At the time, a company spokesperson explained that this was part of the management of its cryptocurrency assets, rather than a sale.<\/p>\n In August, a further 2,628 BTC, worth approximately $165 million, were transferred to the same platform. The company also described this transaction as a transfer of assets for safekeeping.<\/p>\n At the time of publication, CoinDesk had not received any explanation from Trump Media regarding the new transactions.<\/p>\n The transfer took place on the eve of an important date relating to the company\u2019s financial obligations.<\/p>\n According to documents filed by Trump Media with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 2 November, holders of its convertible bonds may demand early cash redemption on 30 November.<\/p>\n If all shareholders exercise this right, the company may need around $1 billion.<\/p>\n In its financial statements, Trump Media warned that, should other sources of funding prove insufficient, it might have to sell some of its bitcoins or other digital assets.<\/p>\n At the same time, there is no evidence that the current transfer to Crypto.com is directly linked to preparations for such a repayment.<\/p>\n According to the latest figures published as at 31 July, Trump Media held approximately 14,139 BTC, including assets pledged as collateral.
