During trading, the precious metal reached a new high in more than two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>December gold futures in the US rose by around 1.6 per cent and were trading at $4,139.60 per ounce.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second day running that the market has shown significant growth. On Wednesday, 4 November, the price of gold rose by approximately 3.4 per cent \u2014 the strongest single-day gain since August.<\/p>\n<p>As early as the end of last week <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/economics\/dnb-peremistyv-zoloto-londona\/\">precious metal<\/a> It fell to an annual low of $3,869.85. The newly elected Congress will take office in January 2027.<\/p>\n<h2>Why does the price of gold rise when the dollar weakens?<\/h2>\n<p>On the global market, gold is predominantly priced in US dollars. When the dollar falls in value against other currencies, buying gold becomes more affordable for investors using the euro, the yen or other currencies.<\/p>\n<p>This may boost demand and keep prices up.<\/p>\n<p>Following the US election, the dollar fell to its lowest level in over a month. At the same time, yields on US Treasury bonds fell.<\/p>\n<p>This factor is particularly important for gold. Unlike deposits and bonds, the precious metal does not generate interest income. Therefore, when the yields on debt instruments are lower, the opportunity cost of holding it decreases.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts at Pepperstone and Capital.com attribute the current rise in the price of gold specifically to a combination of a weaker dollar, falling bond yields and investors\u2019 reassessment of the US economic outlook.<\/p>\n<h2>The fall in oil prices also bolstered the gold market<\/h2>\n<p>Another factor was the sharp fall in oil prices.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the price of Brent fell by almost 9 per cent, dropping below $100 a barrel. Investors attributed this reaction to expectations of a possible easing of tensions surrounding Iran following the US election.<\/p>\n<p>Cheaper oil may ease inflationary pressures, as energy prices have a direct impact on transport costs, industrial production and the prices of goods.<\/p>\n<p>Lower inflationary risks, in turn, may reduce the need to maintain high interest rates for an extended period.<\/p>\n<p>However, gold does not always rise in price as a result of falling inflation: its price depends on the interplay of interest rates, exchange rates, geopolitical risks and investment demand.<\/p>\n<p>In the current situation, the fall in oil prices has been one of the factors fuelling expectations of a more accommodative monetary policy.<\/p>\n<h2>The market is awaiting new US employment figures<\/h2>\n<p>The future direction of the gold price will depend to a large extent on US economic data.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, 6 November, a report on the number of non-farm jobs in the US is due to be published.<\/p>\n<p>These figures will help to assess the state of the US labour market and the Federal Reserve\u2019s likely future decisions on interest rates.<\/p>\n<p>Weaker employment figures could heighten expectations of a rate cut, whilst a resilient labour market could provide support for the dollar and bond yields.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, investors are keeping a close eye on political signals from Washington and developments in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>During trading on 5 November, other precious metals also rose in price, notably silver, platinum and palladium.
