The Russian side will once again be led by Vladimir Putin\u2019s aide, Vladimir Medinsky. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Staff and the Russian military intelligence service will also take part in the talks. This was announced on 7 November by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\"><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Russia has announced the composition of its delegation for the talks in Abu Dhabi on 10\u201311 November.<\/li>\n<li>The Russian negotiating team will once again be led by Putin\u2019s aide, Vladimir Medinsky.<\/li>\n<li>Sergei Ryabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister, will be taking part in this format for the first time.<\/li>\n<li>The delegation will also include representatives of the Russian General Staff and military intelligence.<\/li>\n<li>The day before, the negotiators held a closed-door meeting with Putin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Who will represent Russia at the talks in Abu Dhabi?<\/h2>\n<p>According to <strong>Peskov<\/strong>, the Russian delegation will include deputy foreign ministers <strong>Sergey Ryabkov<\/strong> \u0456 <strong>Mikhail Galuzin<\/strong>, Head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff <strong>Igor Kostyukov<\/strong> and Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff <strong>Yuriy Zhigarlovsky<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>He will remain the chief negotiator <strong>Vladimir Medinsky<\/strong>, who had already represented Moscow during previous rounds of consultations on ending the war. Galuzin and Kostyukov also took part in previous negotiating missions, whilst Ryabkov will be joining this format for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Ryabkov is responsible within the Russian Foreign Ministry for relations with countries in North and South America, as well as for arms control and nuclear non-proliferation. Zhigalovsky represents the General Staff department responsible for operational military planning. The Russian delegation will therefore comprise diplomats and high-ranking representatives of the military leadership.<\/p>\n<h2>Putin held a closed-door meeting ahead of the summit<\/h2>\n<p>The day before, on 6 November, members of the forthcoming delegation met with <strong>Vladimir Putin<\/strong> at a meeting of the Russian Security Council. Part of the meeting was devoted to preparations for <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/main-news\/ukraine-russia-us-talks-resume\/\">tripartite talks<\/a>, although the main discussion took place behind closed doors.<\/p>\n<p>During the public part of the meeting, Putin thanked the United Arab Emirates for organising the forthcoming meeting. The Kremlin has not publicly disclosed the specific proposals that the Russian side plans to put forward in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n<h2>Talks between Ukraine, the US and Russia are set to resume after a long hiatus<\/h2>\n<p>The meeting on 10\u201311 November will be the first round of US-mediated trilateral talks since February 2026. Washington is trying to make progress towards resolving the war before the onset of winter, but key differences between Kyiv and Moscow remain unresolved.<\/p>\n<p>President of Ukraine <strong>Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/strong> had previously emphasised that the top priorities must be to bring the war to an end and <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/politics\/zelenskyi-uhoda-yevropa-rosiya-harantii-bezpeky\/\">security guarantees<\/a> for Ukraine. Only then, he said, can a broader security framework between Europe and Russia be discussed.<\/p>\n<p>As yet, the parties have not announced that they have agreed on the terms for a ceasefire.
