Portugal has contributed to the US arms procurement programme for Ukraine - Shmyhal<\/h2>\n

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal<\/strong> said that Portugal contributes \u20ac50 million<\/strong> to the programme PURL (Ukraine Security Assistance Programme)<\/strong>, coordinated by the United States.<\/p>\n

\u00abI am grateful to the Government of Portugal for its \u20ac50 million contribution to the joint PURL programme. This is another manifestation of the solidarity of our allies and an investment in the security of the whole of Europe,\u00bb said Shmyhal.<\/p>\n

What is a PURL application<\/h3>\n

PURL is international mechanism<\/strong> joint financing of arms purchases for Ukraine under US control.
Through this programme, partners can direct funds to purchase modern weapons, ammunition and equipment directly for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Context.<\/h3>\n

Portugal has consistently supported Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
In addition to financial assistance, Lisbon is involved in training of the Ukrainian military<\/strong>, and also transmitted armoured vehicles, spare parts for Leopard 2 tanks<\/strong> and humanitarian cargo.<\/p>\n
