The National Bank is considering a new wave of Ukrainianisation of terms<\/h2>\n

After the proposal to restore the historical name \u00abshag\u00bb instead of \u00abkopek\u00bb National Bank of Ukraine<\/strong> is considering the possibility of renaming the State Treasury into the \u201cTreasury\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This became known during a discussion of legislative initiatives between the National Bank and the Verkhovna Rada. According to the officials, the goal is to \u00abreturn to Ukrainian financial traditions and vocabulary that has historical roots.\u00bb.<\/p>\n

During the meeting Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk<\/strong> commented on the initiative with humour:<\/p>\n

In response. NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyi<\/strong> jokingly added that this name \u00abfits well with the new financial language of the state\u00bb.<\/p>\n

The idea to restore the term \u00abshag\u00bb as a small currency appeared as part of the symbolic renewal of the Ukrainian financial system.
