EU prepares to stop issuing Schengen multivisa to Russians<\/h2>\n

The European Union plans to significantly restrict the issuance of multiple-entry Schengen visas to Russian citizens<\/strong>, reports Politico<\/em> citing sources in the European Commission.<\/p>\n

The new rules are expected to be adopted by by the end of this week<\/strong>, and then most Russians will be able to obtain only a one-time short-term visa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Context of the solution<\/h3>\n

According to the publication, the initiative is seen as Reaction to the war against Ukraine<\/strong> and an attempt to prevent \u00ababuse of free movement privileges\u00bb by citizens of the aggressor country.<\/p>\n

Some Member States, in particular Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia and Latvia<\/strong>, already stopped issuing tourist visas to Russians at the national level<\/strong>. This restriction is now planned to be extended to the entire EU.<\/p>\n

The goal is a coherent position of all EU members<\/h3>\n
