The European Parliament may impose sanctions against Hungary<\/h2>\n

On 24 November, the European Parliament plans to consider Resolution on the crisis of the rule of law in Hungary<\/strong>.
The document defines what is happening in the country systemic violations of democratic principles and values of the EU<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Possible sanctions and legal pressure<\/h3>\n

The resolution states that the European Parliament may call on the EU Council to impose sanctions<\/strong>, \u0430 European Commission - to increase legal pressure<\/strong> on the prime minister's government Viktor Orban<\/strong>.
This could include freezing funding, restricting participation in European programmes and tightening control over the use of EU funds.<\/p>\n

Hungary may be deprived of voting rights<\/h3>\n

According to Article 7 of the EU Treaty<\/strong>, In case of proven violations of the basic principles of democracy, the country may deprive of the right to vote in the Council of the EU<\/strong>.
This will be an unprecedented step that has never been taken in the history of the European Union.<\/p>\n
