Russia deploys up to 150,000 troops to Donetsk region - situation is \u00abvery tense\u00bb<\/h2>\n

In Pokrovsk (Donetsk region), according to the Ukrainian defence commander Alexander Syrsky<\/strong> Russians have concentrated about 150,000 military personnel<\/strong> as part of a new offensive operation.
Nevertheless, according to the commander, Ukrainian forces are holding the defensive lines and are holding back attempts to encircle them.<\/p>\n

    Moscow is likely aiming to surround Pokrovsk from the north, west and east to cut off supplies to Ukrainian troops and control logistics.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    The Ukrainian defence is using fortified urban areas, drone units, electronic warfare and ground artillery to deter mechanised attacks.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Despite their large manpower, the Russians are suffering significant losses: the Ukrainian side estimates their losses at around 13,000 soldiers after the counter-offensive in September.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This concentration of forces demonstrates the seriousness of Russia's offensive campaign in Donetsk region - success in taking Pokrovsk could be one of the biggest breakthroughs by Moscow since the fall of Avdiivka. At the same time, it reveals significant challenges for Ukraine: the importance of long-range systems, modernising air defence and urban defence is growing.<\/p>\n
