British edition The Sunday Times<\/strong> reports that the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region is under intense Russian pressure and is effectively surrounded on three sides<\/strong>. According to journalists, the Ukrainian army is suffering significant losses in this area, and the fighting continues almost continuously.<\/p>\n At the same time, the publication emphasises that even if Russia manages to capture Pokrovsk and neighbouring Myrnohrad, it will will not be a turning point<\/strong> in the war.<\/p>\n The occupation forces are trying to advance to a key transport interchange and are simultaneously putting pressure on several settlements.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n The Sunday Times notes that Pokrovsk remains the main target of the Russian offensive<\/strong> in the region.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ukrainian troops continue to defend themselves, but the fighting is taking place amid a lack of resources and depleted personnel.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The publication concludes that even in the event of the loss of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, Russia will not achieve a strategic advantage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Reasons:<\/p>\n The following remain in the north-east of Donetsk region powerful fortified cities<\/strong>, which Ukraine continues to hold.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n The defence of the region is built on several lines, and the loss of individual settlements will not change the overall structure of the front.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ukrainian forces retain control of the main logistics routes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Pokrovsk has become a key defence point in Donetsk Oblast following an intense Russian offensive in the second half of 2025.
